Villa Amonteera is located in Choeng Thale (also spelled Cherngtalay) on Phuket’s west coast. The villa lies on a hillside directly inland from the northern end of Surin Beach and is reached by a new access road.
Surin Beach is a relatively quiet beach, partly because the waves can be powerful. For confident swimmers it offers a magnificent experience. Please note that strong currents can occur, particularly during the monsoon season (roughly May to October) – always follow the lifeguard flags. One of our owners, when in Phuket, always walks down from the villa to the beach to arrive at first light (06:30) and to enjoy the beach almost entirely to himself for the next hour and a half. An added benefit of going early is that Surin Beach is shaded by tall trees, so you can swim and relax in the warm sea with less risk of sunburn.
Kamala and Bangtao Beach are lined with hotels and beach clubs. In the evenings it becomes quite a party scene and it is busy during the day as well. The distance to Kamala is about 15 minutes. The area behind Bangtao Beach has numerous shops, bars, restaurants, gyms, and more – ideal for a stroll.
Laguna Golf Phuket, one of the island’s best courses, lies just inland from Bangtao Beach, and the Phuket FantaSea theme park is just south of Surin Beach. Patong, Phuket’s best-known nightlife district, is 15–25 minutes away by car, depending on traffic.
From the villa, most of Phuket can be reached in 30–60 minutes by car, traffic permitting. Whether you would like to go sea-cave kayaking in Phang Nga Bay, visit an elephant sanctuary, explore Phuket Old Town, see a waterfall, a Thai temple or the Big Buddha, play golf, go diving or charter a boat for the day, we are happy to recommend trusted local operators.
